Trucking & Transportation

Built around the gap between fuel and freight pay.

Fuel, driver pay, tolls, maintenance and insurance come due while the load moves. Brokers and shippers commonly pay on 30- to 60-day terms. Truidian helps carriers line up the providers built around that gap.

The realities

What makes trucking different.

  • Costs are paid now; loads are paid later.

Fuel, driver pay, tolls, maintenance and insurance come due while the load moves. Brokers and shippers commonly pay on 30- to 60-day terms, sometimes longer.

  • Equipment is the business.

Tractors and trailers are the largest assets most carriers own, and their age, mileage and condition shape both operations and financing options.

  • Fuel is the largest variable cost.

Small differences in per-gallon pricing, discounts and network coverage add up quickly across trucks and miles.

  • Your customers’ credit matters.

Carriers often haul for many brokers and shippers. Their payment history affects collections and how factoring providers evaluate invoices.

  • Compliance and software are connected.

ELDs, IFTA reporting, dispatch, settlements and invoicing increasingly run through connected systems.

  • Drivers are paid by the mile or the load.

Per-mile, per-load and percentage pay — plus contractor settlements — need payroll that understands trucking.

Freight factoring for carriers.

Freight factoring

What is invoice factoring for trucking companies?

Freight factoring lets a carrier sell eligible invoices for delivered loads to a factoring company for an advance, instead of waiting for the broker or shipper to pay.

Many freight factors also offer related services such as broker credit checks, fuel advances and collections. Programs differ in recourse terms, contract length, minimum volumes and whether every load must be factored — so those terms are worth comparing before signing.

Commonly explored when

  • New authorities building cash flow while customers pay on terms
  • Growing fleets where receivables are rising faster than cash
  • Carriers that want broker credit checks and collections support

The provider stack

What a trucking provider stack covers.

  • Truck & equipment financing

Financing for tractors, trailers and other equipment, new or used. Providers commonly consider time in business, equipment age and mileage, and down payment.

    Equipment financing
  • Working capital

Funding for repairs, insurance down payments, onboarding drivers and growth between collections.

    Working capital
  • Fuel programs

Fuel cards and discount programs that may offer per-gallon discounts, spend controls and IFTA reporting support across a network of locations.

  • Payments

Collecting from direct shippers and customers, and paying vendors electronically, where applicable.

    Payment processing
  • Payroll

Payroll for company drivers on per-mile, per-load or percentage pay, plus settlements for contractors.

  • Communications

Business phone and messaging for dispatch, drivers and customers.

  • TMS & transportation software

Transportation management for dispatch, load tracking, invoicing and settlements — ideally connected to factoring and accounting.

  • Fleet technology

ELDs, telematics, maintenance tracking and document scanning that keep loads and paperwork moving.

No. Truidian is a business solutions company. Truidian helps carriers identify and connect with third-party factoring companies. Truidian is not a carrier, freight broker, factoring company, insurer or lender.

Can Truidian help an owner-operator or a new authority?

Yes. Truidian works with owner-operators as well as established fleets. Provider eligibility varies — for example by time in business, equipment and the customers you haul for.

Can Truidian help finance trucks and trailers?

Yes. Truidian can help identify participating equipment financing providers for tractors, trailers and other equipment. Approval and terms are set by the provider.

How much does freight factoring cost?

Factoring fees vary by provider and are typically based on invoice volume, your customers’ credit and whether the program is recourse or non-recourse. Truidian can help you compare participating providers’ rate structures.

Do I have to factor every load, or can I choose which invoices to factor?

It depends on the provider. Some programs require factoring all loads (full ledger), while others allow spot factoring of individual invoices. Truidian can help identify participating providers that match how you want to factor.

Can I get freight factoring with bad credit or as a new authority?

Factoring approval is generally based more on your customers’ creditworthiness than your own, which is why it’s often accessible to new authorities. Final eligibility and terms are set by the provider.

What does it cost to work with Truidian?

Truidian may receive compensation from participating providers. If any fee would be payable directly by your business, it will be disclosed before you engage.
